media and public voices

Today’s youth are one’s who are mostly using the network sites by communicating posting and creating images that attract other youth as for I didn’t know how to use a computer not until I started working with the Cree school board since I am slowly working up with a computer and it is really fun to work with these computers I guess we can say that we can teach old dog new tricks after all. Media is a powerful tool when we want our voices to be heard to the public because everyone is using a media to spread their word to the public. I know one young man who is recruiting people to fight for the Rupert river he is using facebook to recruit people to stop the diversion of the Rupert river.www.savetherupert.org/  The campaign is growing

because many young people don’t want the rupert river to be destroyed because of the global warming the we face every year and Cree hunting grounds will destroyed once the river is diversed. The diverson will affect the traditional way of life of the Cree people of James Bay the river will no longer drinking and mercury will rise again animals habitat will be under water once again. I salute the young man who has courage to for the derversion of Rupert river. rupertriver.blogspot.com/ – 67k -

I know it is long shot to save the river because we already the signed 1.5 billion dollar agreement but it is worth a try to save the the last virgin river.rupertriver.com/more/links.

video Games

Since video games were invented our wallets get thinner each year cause video games cost alot of money our children wants to buy the video games which are popular to them. When I was a teenager the only video games that I played were the games that played were the at the arcade which cost me a 25cents per game which was still alot of money to me. Today the games cost alot more games like xbox and playstation 2.

I never owned a video game when I was a teenager because my parents couldn’t afford it because it was too expensive to buy one So arcade was the option for to play video games.

Donkey kong was a popular game when I was young which many many moons ago but I hardly played this game even though it was a popular game because I didn’t own a video game but pacman was the only video game that I played often because it was acceesible to me I really enjoyed this video game because it was fun to play. My kids now play online it which annoying to me because We always fight over the t.v. and I usally lose because they want play online with their friends on the bigger screen t.v.

So my reaction with the video games is the cost of money online games will also flatted our wallets. Damn video games ha ha ha.

online education

I think social network sites for youth are educational because when stay online and chat with their friends they learning english words even though the they are using short form such lol and Imao those type of words even me I use these type words when i chat with my friends because I am too lazy to type the full word so I use the short hand when I chat with my friends online.

It is interesting to see what your friends are writing on your bebo and facebook that is why I try to check my messages everyday and I think everyone who uses these sites feel the same way like I do because are communicating and learning the second language through chatting and emailing message to one another especially the teenagers who chat with their friends are learning the second language.

I strongly agree that network is an educational tool for the youth and adults because as a Cree person I have learn new words through online network sites and i also learn how to work and create eductional curriculm using a computers and the most important thing I that I have learn through a computer is my mother language it helps me to improve my own language this why I strongly  believe online network is good educational tool for the youth and us the adults to learn a Cree syllabics go to eastcree.org and www.eastcree/keyboarding.html these websites will help to learn Cree language.

media power

I believe the media is powerful it is the wave of the future we cannot ignore media it is going to be with us for a long time. There is bad media and there is good media. The good media is the educational media and other media is not that suitable for young children who are surfing in the internet. Today’s generation are all famliar to modern media. I have five children three of them know how to work with computers better than me. And my eight year old son is starting to play with computers and he knows my password to go in surfing the websites where he know the websites for games. I know he is learning the alphabets when he types each letter. He is also improving his English words through the media literacy.

Homer simpson is popular in my home my teeenage sons watch the show every evening I know that when they watch the simpsons they are laughing and that is how I know that they are learning the second language even if they are just watching tv they are still learning the second language. Media helps us to learn the English language through t.v. and through internet. One of my sons has difficult in writing but he is improving every year because he is always chatting with his friend on his messenger. I also learned from television when i was in school by watching my favorite shows after school and even today I still learn the second language when watch television.

This is why I believe that the media is a powerful tool to use when learning a second language through internet and television.
